What a Blessing

Austin has been such a sweet addition to our home. He loves to be held and snuggled, and that's just fine with me. I just wish I could keep him small.

Austin Glenn was named after my grandpa, Glenn Felix Zweifel. We miss him so much. He was such an amazing man, and I know he would be proud that our little guy shares his name. Austin has a lot to live up to.


I love when Curt is able to hold our babies and give them a blessing. It is such a simple act that brings so much comfort and peace to us all. I'm so grateful that we have such a wonderful father and priesthood holder in our home.

Great-Grandpa Egbert celebrated his 90th birthday the weekend of Austin's blessing. He was still partying on Sunday, so he wasn't able to make it to the blessing, but I'm glad we were able to get these pictures at his reception. We had a great time celebrating the life of such a wonderful man, visiting with family, and filling the temple full of Egberts. Doesn't he look great for 90?

Happy Spring!!

So, I completely forgot about spring break. What a lame mom I am. But, I have a few excuses-- First- it's still winter, no warm weather here. Second-when you have four kids and only one in 1/2 day school, every week seems like a holiday :0) and lastly- when you're living on only 47 minutes of sleep at night you end up completely brain dead.

So we had to hurry and come up with something to help celebrate the new season.

Monday

-worked on chores all morning so we would be able to play the rest of the week

-went to our new favorite park

-Sonic Slushies

-Skateland (1st time--we're going to need a little practice).

I just had to laugh at how quickly this place can transport you back to junior high.

-sleep over with cousins

Tuesday

-played with cousins all day

-set up the trampoline

Wednesday

St. Patricks Day

-Took the kids to the movies-- Alvin and the Chipmunks the Squeakquel.

Of course the movie was during our normal naptime, so it was nice to have my sister there to help out. Thanks Amy!!!

-Kenadee and I made a fruit rainbow

Thursday

-Austin turned one month old

Friday

-YMCA in Sun Valley

so fun. the kids had the biggest smiles on their faces the whole time

Scars are COOL......

And if things go as well as they did this last year, our kids are going to have lots of them! I am not sure if Anna and I were overprotected as children (thanks mom and dad) or if we're just terrible parents, but all three of the kids have had more stitches than Anna and I combined in just their few years of life.

Kenadee - A large ice patch spoiled her escape from church on a cold Sunday afternoon.

Halle - Equilibrium gave out on her after spinning as fast as she could. Rocking chair got in her heads way as she crashed to the floor.

Carson - While at Anna's sisters house....I am unsure of the exact occurrence.....I just know that a ball was involved and the corner of a wall got in the way.

Family Pictures

I found our photographer on Craigs List. Her name is Bethany Cook and you can find her information at http://setintimephotography.blogspot.com/. She is just starting her business and was looking for people she could practice on. We met her in Old Town Twin Falls and we really had a fun time wandering around the abandoned alleys. I love the brick walls and old painted doors. Things turned out pretty good considering that it was cold and windy and bedtime.

HOT!!!

Carson used to go around saying this word, thinking he knew what it meant. Until yesterday. Now he knows what it means and, sadly, how it feels.

Curt rode his motorcycle to work, and when he got home his little buddy went to the garage to greet him. He got curious about the bike, and touched the pipes. It's a sick feeling to see what is about to happen, yet be too slow to stop it.

After a tearful trip to the emergency room we came home with these expensive accessories.

it looks like he wants me to pick him up but he's actually waving and showing off his new hands. I think he's pretty proud of them.

He has second degree burns on his left hand and right forearm. His hand is a big blister. It makes me cringe every time I change his bandage. But, suprisingly, it hasn't slowed him down too much. As long as we keep his pain under control he acts like his same crazy self.

I feel bad because three of his favorite things will be affected--

Food--He won't be able to eat as fast or as much with only one functioning hand

Baths--He loves bathtime and he won't be able to get wet for 3-4 days. I'll just have to wipe him off and put yummy lotion on so he doesn't start to stink too bad.

Signing--he and the girls have been learning a little sign language and he really enjoys using it. It's a wonderful way to help him communicate, but not so great when his hands won't work.

Poor kiddo.
